Songwriting

I don’t write songs. But I was wondering, for those who do, what techniques/inspiration may you use? I’ve seen David Bowie employ one technique where he cuts up random words and creates phrases with them. Have you tried that?

Music comes to me. It is part of me. At a certain point one may develop the skill of being able to play what they think as if they were speaking a language. As far as lyrics life events, emotions and stories make excellent subjects.

Nice! That’s similar to how I write stories too. I know how to play music but composing on my own is something I have very limited experience with.

It comes with experience. An easy to write music is to humm a melody then learn how to play it.
