1Women and men come in many beautiful and unique shapes and sizes 💗. I'm only 5'10'' and without fail, many men have been discouraged from meeting me in person due to my height. It seems as though a man dating a tall/taller woman takes away from their sense of masculinity. What are your thoughts on dating and height difference? Ladies do you prefer dating women/men shorter or taller than you? Guys do you have a preference when looking for a woman/man? Could height make or break a connection?

8It's not about masculinity, it's about men liking cute/adorable/huggable/squeezable females, which make them feel even more protective of them. Men are allowed to feel these emotions, even if it bothers you, ya know.

1You literally just described a masculinity trait. Strength tends to be a defining attribute of masculinity. The need to "protect" a woman is a behavior/role associated with masculinity. Also a woman's height isn't a determining factor for whether they are cute, adorable or huggable. Those traits can be found in people of all shapes and sizes. Everyone is entitled to their emotions. I just shared an experience and wanted feedback on if height was a dealbreaker when dating/trying to form connections. I appreciate your input though. Thank you.

1I never said that women don't have protective tendencies. I'm aware of those. I was addressing the part in your comment about men "feeling even more protective" of the women considered cute/adorable, etc. The need to protect a woman is a behavior/role associated with masculinity. Thank you for bringing your point to my attention.

8I don't know, back in my days it was called caring and adoration not masculinity. And thus it is associated with both genders. I find it rather bizarre when women tend to lack that quality and think men should risk their life for no reason (i.e. going into combat with other people, especially armed ones). That was my point.

I really must ask you how that relates to the initial question itself. Is someone’s height a determining factor when you explore romantic interest? Women can be tall & still be cute/adorable/huggable/squeezable even if you don’t agree, ya know? I think we need to not speak for men & stop generalizing. Speak from experience and contribute useful information.

4I'm 5'3 so I've always been the short one. Which I'm fine with. I would totally date someone considerablely taller than myself. I just have to find them attractive and like their personality.

Exactly. I think everyone has to realize it all comes down to, “Am i attracted to this person?”

4Most people realize height doesn't matter long too late and then they have to settle for someone else instead of that one guy that was really nice and cute just not tall enough.

Literally, a lot of people only think height matters because they’re worried about how others perceive their relationship. Meanwhile the 6 feet+ super models many people idolize will marry shorter men while someone else will stay single forever thinking that height matters.

Nope I don't think height should be a problem. I am 5'6" and I have had past relationships were my ex was a couple more inches taller and I didn't care. I would date them for them and grow with them

I personally have a thing for shorter women but being slightly above average height isn't a deal breaker. I think those guys are being a little ridiculous if it is.

My ex kept joking about my height while we were still dating. Eventually ends up cheating on me with a much taller guy. 😅 I'm 170 cm, by the way. That has been my experience with this height thing, but it's only 1 data point of course. It's not representative of the whole picture, I get that. Personally, I don't mind dating someone taller than me. I think it's cool to be honest. I don't get the (fragile?) masculinity mindset of dating only someone smaller. If you want to be scientific about it, I mean, why on earth would I say no to good genes? But I'm fine with dating someone smaller too. Height isn't a make or break for me. At the end of the day, the personality matters the most.

I personally have a preference that if am dating a woman then i prefer her being smaller and if am dating a man then i want him to be taller. Tho if i had a girlfriend and she was taller than me i would still love that because i know that being cuddled would be amazing XD. i do have the height preference but it doesnt really make or break it for me

1It would have been helpful if all commenters shared their heights along with their comments. Maybe folks think this is irrelevant, I don't know, but the poster did share her height and it would seem perhaps there might be some correlation there. I'm 6'0" (183cm) and height has never been a factor for me. I've dated women who range in height from 5'0" to 5'10", but I don't recall meeting many women who are taller. In my opinion, the one thing that significant differences in height affects is dancing. It's the only activity that was challenging for me to do with someone significantly shorter than me. In the end, it's personality and values which are going to win out, not physical appearance.

1I think worrying about stepping on my partners toes would distract me from any sort of height difference lol 😆 Thank you so much for sharing your insight! I agree 100%, personality and values are definitely important.

1I never cared about that sort of thing and I would agree with you that most men are insecure to date a taller lady because somehow they feel less masculine. I don't care though. The mother of my first child was 6' tall and I'm 5'7". We were together 4 years.

Sometimes I think I have a preference for people shorter than me, but then I see a girl taller than me and change my mind lol For me I think height isnt that important, my favourite height will be whatever my height my future partner is Although it will probably be easier for me to form a connection with someone shorter than myself because all past partners I've had were shorter than me

Yeah, I am only 5' 6" but I can't date anyone shorter than me. It's just too awkward. I was taking ballroom dance lessons once and the only dude in the class was a super shorty. Trying to dance with him was awful, we couldn't even do many moves that required things like me twirling under his arm or him putting his arm around me because his arms were so short. I was really sorry for the guy because it was not his fault but I just don't want a partner that can't even get their arms around me.

1Do you like short guys? I'm intimidated by girls taller than me even tho I know they are beautiful but it's like i doubt someone that is taller than me would ever even be with me even if they are far more beautiful.
