9It's funny how the majority of people rate their own looks as "above average"... 😏 As per definition, this is not possible. Yet even confronted with this fact people will not change their perception... When we consider our looks, do we estimate our average or do we consider the best we can be? Do we consider our faces, our bodies, specific features or the entirety of us? Can one ever be truly objective when it comes to oneself and does the opinion of others truly matter? 🤔

8I definitely do not fall into that majority lol. Looks are subjective, who one person finds to be the most attractive human on earth, the next person could easily be like "woof". At best I think I'm somewhere in the middle, objectively speaking and by my own perceived beauty standards at least

as in you do not think you are above average physical attractiveness? Geeze, well I'm a guy so if you wanted a possibly somewhat reliable rating from a man then maybe I can vouch... you seem very attractive to me. Oh man, that first picture of your's with that undercut and the fishnet top was stunning. I will concur that you do not strike atleast me personally as the most beautiful woman to ever exist, but I think you actually are at the LEAST somewhat above average, although I have to fight my bias for strongly preferring your fashion sense too as that is not an aspect of your raw bodily physical attractiveness. This isn't some passive weasley advanced btw. I promise.

Beauty is like art, it's SUBJECTIVE. The whole beauty trends and people trying to fit some conventional mold always seemed ridiculous to me because, EVERYONE had different looks and I think people need to focus on their personalities, just be kind hearted and drop petty B.S. such as, "Who's prettier?" and not being the a particular type mainstream finds "digestible". Besides, having kind and strong personality is real beauty. *Phew*, 😆 tangent over.

A corollary of the Dunning-Kruger effect I'm sure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect (Dunning was the hot one, Kruger was ghastly, or was it the other way around?)

The objective standards of beauty changes depending on the time period, geographic location, and culture. If you are looking to digitize a person’s physical beauty based on physical attributes, that’s one way you can do it. This is pretty much Fe, putting more emphasis on the values of the community. Then there is Fi, who put their own opinions above the opinions of others, although they would like to make you believe their opinions have authority. Then there is also the consideration where people want to be desirable. Truth is no one will want anything to do with you if you make everyone believe that you are below average in every aspect of life.

Well I think everyone should find themselves attractive, as they have to reside within their meat vessel for the rest of their life; may as well accept what you look like

The best you could do to ascertain objective beauty would be to gather the opinions of thousands of random people. Otherwise it's all subjective.

2Well, I don't think I'm a looker by any means. Average to below average at best. The keyword obviously being "I", as that is my subjective reality. Whether that is objectively true (if that's a thing) or not is not considered. And that is because if there was an objective truth, it would be transcended and out of reach for my simple human mind. So yeah, I don't think it's ever possible to view oneself in any other way than subjective. At most a dissociated variation of subjective.

1What's more of a problem is womens severe attraction to money and fame, and their projecting that attraction on to a guy's looks. Some male celebrities are genuinely handsome but how often do you look at one and think if he was a regular guy with a tenner in the bank walking about Walmart, rather than a rich famous guy glorified by the media, women wouldn't look twice at him. Adam Driver, as one good example. This isn't jealousy either as I've had some women compliment me (and others not). I'm.just saying half these famous guys are a mess and completely overrated. You can't disagree with this either because it's been proved by studies that women overrate plenty of celebrities. It's a bit off topic but with a background in sociology I'm far more interested in why women flatter some men. The celebrity culture phenomenon. People overrating themselves to feel better is of little interest to me,I'm.much more interested in why people overrate others and the lack of good faith they show in doing so.

2Interesting reply. But why is it a problem? It’s just fact that many women aren’t attracted to looks as much as to fame, money or talent etc. because it’s power and security. That’s what many women want and need. Whenever you are attracted to anyone for whatever reason, often you find them more pretty/handsome as well, even in a peculiar way.

5Estimate your looks against the best YOU can be. If you can do that much, you will be prettier every day. Don't compare yourself to others' standards, bc it distorts yours and you'll never be happy! There be souls out here that see you as jesus reincarnate exactly as you look, and don't forget it 👊

8I consider myself acceptable, definitely not ugly as far as looks...but I'm also a harsh critic of my own self. Sometimes I feel it's just human nature to seek validation. Like ask "How come people I'm attracted to do not appear to feel the same way?" Definitely is a perception...everyone perceives others their own way.

9Real question. Everytime someone tries to flirt with me, I feel pissed off and I ignore them. Recently, a friend tried to ask me out and I feel disgusted and angry. I feel like punching him on the face 😂 I know this is not a normal feeling. Usually people feel happy when they know someone likes them. But I dont feel like that. How are we supposed to feel when someone show interest in me? Why I feel this way? Please help me understand my own feelings 😅
