I'm having a hard time explaining why I'm polyamorous.

I know I am and I know for me it's because I have a lot of love to give. But trying to explain this and it making sense to someone who hasn't been introduced to it is hard for me. Anyone else have a better explanation then I just have a lot of love to give? 😓

The way I look at is that every one has different needs and wants and no one person can fulfill all of them. For some people having friends and family is enough to offset that, but for some people it's not. In a monogamous relationship your options are to suffer, breakup, or cheat. Poly relationships validate those needs and allow everyone options to meet them.

This is also what I believe I love my fiance so much but I have other connections and love that I believe someone else can fulfill.

Your poly because that’s what you believe in and shouldn’t have to explain it, unless they are truly interested. You are you and if one person can’t handle that then so be it. Just like I, someone who isn’t poly, wouldn’t ask a poly individual to switch, I respect your choice. My reason for being non poly is strictly because I lack the self-confidence, and don’t feel I could be with multiple people. If they can’t accept you being poly, then they aren’t worth your time. But again my personal opinion.

Let them know it’s just your preference and that you’re aware it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Just like how it’s their preference to be monogamous. They don’t have to agree with you. They just need to know that’s how you roll. I’m not a fan of polyamory myself, but if that’s how other people wanna do it, that’s their business. As long as I’m not the one having sex with them 🤷🏻‍♀️

It depends. People have different reasons for being poly and that affects the style of poly they choose. For example, I would never ever be in a triad or polyfidelitious situation because to me polyamory is about autonomy. Nobody gets to tell anybody what to do, what not to do, who to do or who not to do. So the way I explain it is, monogamy is a deal whereby I restrict my freedom in hope that you'll restrict yours so we both have the false illusion of security. I've decided that is no bargain! Not worth it to me. Plus, with no rules there is no need to lie (and anybody who does anyway has some sort of pathological need to con people. I trust most people will tell the truth if they are not punished for it).

I would really like to understand, I have no intentions on dumping on your lifestyle, I think it would actually help me with my situation. If you're comfortable with it please message me I guess
