4I have an interesting relationship with Open Arms by Journey. The first time I remember hearing it was when we had a ballroom dance unit in high school gym. Gosh, I hated that. For a while after that traumatic experience, I wouldn’t be able to listen to the song without cringing. But I guess with time away from my ninth grade awkwardness, the song has grown on me 🥰.

Journey has a way of getting into your head/heart, whether you like it or not. For me, one song is "Only Shallow" by My Bloody Valentine. I remember the first time popping the cassette(!) into my boombox when I was in high school, listening to it, thinking something was wrong with the tape, fast-forwarding to the next song, flipping the cassette, etc., until I finally decided it was defective. Now I love me my MBV. One of the best live music experiences I've had.

Awe dude, Americana, Bluegrass. It felt like "pop country" and I found it difficult to like the people who enjoyed such music. Now that I can find artists n be more obscure in styles of music, the simplification of lyrics on daily life and folk sounds bring a coolness to my brain. Still prefer metal though.

I used to really dislike Red Hot Chili Peppers and then one day I suddenly enjoyed them. Really strange too there wasn't any reason or anything I suddenly started liking songs I used to skip.

I used to dislike Echoes of the Bunnymen's Lips Like Sugar", back when I was 18. However I came across the song 5 months back from a Spotify playlist of Goth Rock and now I like and the rest of the band's music.

One time I tripped on mushrooms for the first time. I was into classic rock and hated "New Bands". We came back to my friends house and started playing Rock Band. I jam out to Skillet now. Same type of think with Pink Floyd. Hated their music until I became a stoner. Fun fact though most of Pink Floyd never did drugs despite the psychedelic image they have.

5at first listen a few years ago i thought most oingo boingo songs were just a bunch of noise, now i cant find a single song i dislike. i still dont care for early daft punk music tho, too much discordant grinding & noise, but ive always loved their last( 😭) 2 albums 🤖

1Conform was a really strange band for me at first then I realized they’re probably the most original deathcore band out there, or Devil and the Almighty Blues which is also a completely original genre and nobody really knows these bands either

5What album or song just speaks to you or gets you all in your feels every time. One of mine is Circles by Mac Miller. Not only do the lyrics seem to speak to me but I could listen to that man sing about paint drying lol! Just a lovely voice.
