5I'm betting most of us have encountered that one, or 100, really toxic player in our games. What are some of the things you guys do to shake it off? If somone is being toxic in-game would you rather confront them or ignore them?

5I try to ignore them in champ select, muting them completely & early reporting toxicity. In game, all chat is always off. I try to remember to report all toxic players at the end of each game. Doesn’t matter if I was carried by a toxic player. Still gonna try to get them banned. Above all, I try to be an example of healthy sportsmanship (using encouraging emotes, countering allied flaming, & using chat to promote cooperation). But I’m not always the best example. Sometimes I’ll use emotes to taunt.

5Well said! I find muting toxic players helpful too. Its awesome that you also hold yourself accountable. Its one thing to address toxicity for yourself, and another to be the positive example for others you interact with!

I just ignore them usually. Had a friend who was a toxic teammate though in R6S, group just ended up dropping him because it made the game not fun having to listen to it.

5That's a great point! It's important to be aware of how the game you play is making you feel in the moment. If it makes you feel bad why play. I've been gaming at least a decade myself.

Be an adult. Stay calm. Tell them that and why their behavior is not okay. Don't be rude though. It's not quite as easy as it sounds, but always remember that vengeance doesn't help. Don't get back at them for hurting or annoying you. Just tell them what's wrong and mute them, if they keep going.

5Well said, they may not always listen, but if they do you help somone grow socially in-game. Which is pretty cool!

The only games I ever raged and trash talked while playing were halo 3 and call of duty.... I wasn't too awful...but thinking back I'm kinda disappointed with my attitude.

5I believe there is a difference between trash talking competitivley and being toxic online. I did the same in MW2 for sure but it honestly made me a ton of friends! We would insult each other and nearly pass out laughing about them!

This is true. I got so many friend requests...lol. A lot of them couldn't believe I played games with my son. And that I was actually good at the game. My son's favorite thing was telling people his mom killed them...lol
