Why is it so hard to have a conversation with people 😒😞

For me it’s so hard to start a conversation and I overthink it. Making new friends is hard. By the time I have the nerve the chance is gone.

Because people don’t have conversations these days they use a few words per sentence completely randomly. The age of intelligent conversation is over with this generation, if you go to chat rooms anywhere people can go on for hours just completely randomly typing things that don’t form a point or actually make sense.

I'd also like to add.. do people actually even socialize anymore? To me a conversation is in person. Atleast that's what I assumed you meant by conversation. I call anything on a device texting because it's so impersonal.. to me an actual conversation is when you have someone's attention and they have yours. These days everyone is so focused on phones and computers or w.e. sorry for sounding old, I also use technology everyday.. now im just rambling.

I dunno. For me I feel like I'm just boring AF. My life is pretty calm and small, so I guess assume nit interesting or anything anyone wants to hear about. I'm also a very non-standard thinker, so many people I think find it hard to relate? Or I'm just nuts. Lol

Honestly, for me its getting past the small talk... Not to mention, online dating/dating period is not my thing...

For me, I hate small talk because Im bad at it. I feel like it's boring for us both, but that doesn't mean I don't want to talk, y'know?

Tell me about exspecially when your trying to make friends.

It's easier if actually verbally talking. People articulate and use words differently when writing. Add rhetoric, sarcasm, or askew perspective and it'll be a shitshow of a convo.

Mobile devices are a root cause alot of people would rather communicate by email or text rather than face to face. Convenience has damaged social interaction skills.

Because ppl love to twist words and interpret messages wrongly.

Yes, I know exactly where you are coming from. I read that a study was conducted recently where its actually really hard to tell if people are being genuine when they are really being genuine. It takes time, or investment, or saving someones life to build trust. If I dont trust someone I wont let them try to persuade me with words, pulling the angry card because I wont makes it worse. I tell them that it isnt up to me whether I trust them or not. Thats what my gut and heart tells me. If they stay calm, and ask me to look them in the eye and they give me their word while shaking my hand now, that is gold and I might change my mind. I had a friend and he always wanted something or wanted to trade something, Im like cant you just come over to chill? Why do you always need something?

Yes. Exactly that last paragraph.

Probably because: A. They’re always on their damn phone. B. They get offended WAY too easily. C. They weren’t taught proper social skills. D. All of the above.

I think we don’t know what to discuss. I usually start by complimenting them but I noticed that white people are not used to it despite other people of color can continue a conversation???
