Should there be a limitation to age gap when dating and why?

9There should indeed. As a parent I dont want my 17 year old being courted by a 40 year old. They will see every single shade of crazy I can be. As for me i do not date younger men. Bad experience and purely preference.

1☝Facts. This is somebody that really takes care of there kids and knows what's what. This is a common occurrence that isn't known to many people that NEED to know. Especially when you have girls.

8This. My oldest is 21 but I'd still lose every ounce of self control on a 40yo for looking at her twice. Dudes that say "as long as she's legal" don't seem to realize how disgusting that is

It’s their decision to make, you can’t control their lives forever and you really shouldn’t it can have bad mental side effects.

9This this and this. Its gross and you have no idea at that point what the so called adults intentions are. And how inexperienced the child is to allow themselves to get stuck in a very bad situation. No f that. Idc if she hates me. Thats not happening as long as im alive.

So is it ok if a 41 year old dates a 65 year old? You have a minor. They are not of age. But at some point your daughter has to take responsibility for her own actions. Any you need to have some faith in the parenting you have already put in. How long will you monitor her dating situation? Till she is 25? 35? Sounds like you don't trust her as an adult, which is perfectly fine at 17. But the age is coming quick where it is not your decision and she will have the legal right and ability to tell you to go to hell. Gotta be careful with alienating young adults.

5I feel like after 25, when the brain is fully developed, it's all up to that person. But I feel people in their 20s trying to speak to teens is weird

It depends on your expectations.

Honestly I've been with immature 40 year olds so. Age doesn't equate to emotional maturity high or low. I think it's deeper than age, it's character. So I 100% agree.

9As long as all parties are consenting adults (over 18) then people should be free to pursue whatever kind of relationship they desire.

9I'm 36 and I've dated someone 10 years younger than me. That's about the youngest I've dated. There should be a limit definitely. The person should be emotionally mature in my opinion. Dating teens is a big No. It's just wrong.

It depends on the person, and the relationship itself, the age difference is not important, but when the difference is 20+ years, this’ll be complicated.. the relationship will be confused, two completely different generations..

1Depends on many things. Do you want an equal? Then minimize the gap. Do you value fertility and beauty? Then date someone young. Do you have an oedipus complex? Then date cougars. Just be mindful of your culture. Some cultures are accepting of adults having sexual relations with prepubescents as long as they marry at puberty. Some will send you to prison and destroy your entire life for dating across an arbitrary age line. Age gaps are quite meaningless objectively speaking, and many relationships work just fine despite a 15 or 20 year gap. But if you value maturity and relatable life experience in a partner, you'll stay within 10 or so years of your own age. That's just my 2 cents.

3It depends, if the person is an adult then after that I don't care at all honestly. If you're into older people go for it they are usually a better bet than young people anyway in every statistic. I'm not saying anyone in the teens since I don't agree that 18 yr Olds are adults. Guys tend to continue to grow until 24 is so to me your not an adult until you have all your rights lol (21)

So I’m 25 and I won’t even mess with anyone under 21 and even then I try to do a little older like 23 but having said that I’m also chatting with a 34-year-old who are very much enjoy our conversations with each other

9I'd sayafter 32 it doesn't matter. But before 32 an 8 year gap is the limit for me. This rule only applies to 18+ of course.

3Depends on the wavelength y’all are on. Me personally? I value dating someone whose brain is fully developed regardless of how fast they grew up. My friend (a man) used some sort of creep index math where you take your age, cut it in half and add seven in order to be in the “safe zone” if you date younger. My example: 38/2+7= I won’t date anyone under the age of 26. Why? Power differentials and the need to negotiate mutual support and growth may be more challenging if you’re intentional about long term partnerships. The older gap may need conversations that may also be challenging in those areas.

Even though my grand parents were 10 years apart and same with an uncle and aunt. Both my uncle and my grandfather have passed, I would say no more than 5. But you never know what awaits.

Yes for sure, I feel at my age of 42 I won't go below 30 unless she is a super mature independent 28 year old I won't say anyless typically the 30 it's a moral and more of a maturity thing!

Honestly as a guy that has been asked out more than I’ve asked women out I say whoever asks should at least offer to pay, I had one girl ask me out then make me drive an hour to pick her up just for her to tell me that the restaurant she wanted to go to was another hour and a half away then after dinner she asked for the bill as one and when it came she looked at it and said, well are u gonna pay it… and I know it sounds bitchy but she said it in a way that made it feel like I was the bad guy for asking if she wanted to split it… is it wrong for me to ask to split the bill if she asked me out and especially after she dragged me out on 5 hours of driving and a whole tank of gas…. That one date was the last straw and since I haven’t Gone out for food but I was wondering what you guys thought about the scenario of who pays when a girl asks a guy out
