Does it have to strictly be sci-fi? Crossings, more historical fantasy than scifi, by Alex Landragin is interesting. It can also be read in a different order and be a different story that's sensible. This reminds me to read it in the alternative order.
Sounds like a sweet genre and concept, I've been digging grimdark lately as well
I really enjoyed the tunnels series, Just some wild twists and turns all the way through

a simple summary doesn't do them justice, Reading the entire series over the course of 3 days it was like a fever dream for me but I loved it so much
I binged all of the Murderbot Diaries recently on my kindle, all very short read and very entertaining. Recommend if you have kindle unlimited since you get them for free!

Question: what kind of story are you wanting to tell? (I'm not talking about genre.)
My benchmark would be something like Children of Time, a story that explores an interesting concept, while retaining a grounded human element/being 'fun'. I want to make something great, although ya type of writing is appealing in its own way.(can also be great!)

Loved it
I just finished reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. It was a bit of a slow burn, but a quick read and I enjoyed the whole thing. I can't wait to read the sequel Definitely recommend it. Are there any other books that are similar in style or story? Bonus if it's also LGBT+ also, lol.
