Blue footed boobies

Just sharing one of my favourite birds. They waddle from one foot onto the other back and forth as a mating dance. They are derpy, I love them ^^

Sounds like I need to take a trip to California just to see one of these cute birds

Better go during mating season, otherwise you may have a hard time finding them as they don't spend much time on land otherwise XD And as cute as they are, they are quite big and can get up to 90cm (35in) with a wingspan of 1,5m (5ft)!

I'm definitely going to keep that in mind haha when exactly is their mating season? And as long as I don't die meeting one I'm sure it would an amazing experience 😜

These birds! They're hilarious and wonderful. I've lived in California my whole life and have never seen them.

They only live near the coast and are really only on land during mating and breeding season (June through August) so I do understand that they are very elusive ^^

I have never seen them before. Where are they typically?

They live along the coasts of the Eastern Pacific ocean somewhere from California to the galápagos islands ^^

They truly are, they are bigger than you'd think tho. The females (bigger than the males) can measure up to 90cm (35 inches) with a wingspan of up to 1.5m (5ft)!

Can it be pets? Here on East coast people have some ducks as pets!

It's just the way they look XD there are also red footed boobies. And I guess we have to thank scientists for the name XD in German the term "boobies" as used here is translated to "Tölpel" which is a specific kind of bird. So I guess "boobies" are a specific bird species?

How do you know all these!! Hahaha those are all cool!! I would love to see one in person. The color is so vibrant and adorable.

In biology class I saw a presentation about fascinating species of the galápagos islands and they mentioned these birds. I fell in love with them instantly XD I only found out later what they were called in English which made everything even better XD

Nope, I live in Germany and I've only been to the US once in my life. Seen a lot of other cool stuff in a broad variety of countries but sadly haven't seen the boobies yet

Well you have more experience then I do already. I have never been to Germany quite honestly..

There are some really nice places and some less nice places, just as everywhere in the world XD
